Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) is known as an insightful collector of fine works of art.
Under his supervision, official kilns produced some of the most recognizable porcelains in the history of Chinese ceramics.最典型的例子之一就是康熙朝期间烧制的官窑瓷器，美轮美奂。At the ongoing Hall of Great Treasures exhibition, we are lucky to have a view of the famed "month"cups fired in Jingdezhen, one of the most brilliant pieces of art under Kangxi's reign.康熙时期出现了许多名瓷精品，其中就有景德镇官窑出品的十二月花卉纹杯。目前正在国博进行的《金玉满堂》展上，就有这么一套杯子。A highlight collection from Shenyang Palace Museum, this elegant porcelain set includes 12 wine cups, each featuring a different floral pattern to represent one of the 12 months of the lunar calendar.这一套酒杯是沈阳故宫馆藏的清代宫廷精品之一。十二月花卉纹杯，顾名思义，每一盅上画了象征每个月份的不同花卉。Each floral design is paired with a poetic verse which depicts a particular flower on the cup, ending with a one-character seal reading shang (appreciation).每种花卉都配有一行描述此花的诗句，一花一诗，句子的结尾是一方“赏”字的章。Kangxi month cups are thin and have a creamy, semi-transparent quality to demonstrate the intricate workmanship of the time. The color arrangements and the combination of paintings and verses show remarkable taste.十二月花卉纹杯体现了当时精妙的工艺，杯壁很薄、能透光，杯面光洁细腻、如牛奶般丝滑。而在这么小的表面还绘制了图案和诗句、色彩雅致，品味不凡。The lineup of the 12 floral motifs on Kangxi month cups vary. For example, it is now the second month on the lunar calendar, and the corresponding cup from the set now on show depicts yulan magnolia.每套康熙十二月杯的花卉主题略有不同。比如现在还是农历二月，正在展出的这套杯子里，对应二月的那盅上画的是玉兰。Shenyang Palace Museum has another set of such cups in its collection, of which the cup for the second lunar month shows apricot flowers.沈阳故宫还藏有另一套康熙十二月花卉纹杯，其中对应农历二月的主题花卉是杏花。Kangxi month cups are found in the collection of both museums and private collectors at home and abroad.
